The Project

Doing It for Me returns Larry June to a solo-album frame after the previous year’s collaborations with The Alchemist and Cardo Got Wings. Its title underlines a familiar element in June’s catalog: knowing your own pace and putting your own decisions at the center of the story. That perspective makes it a useful comparison with the work he releases under joint artist billing.

The producer credits also deserve to sit beside the album overview. “Where I’m Going” names DUKEBEATZ and DVME in track-level production credits. Recognizing that specific song gives the wider production team an appropriate spotlight without claiming that one named collaborator worked on the entire album.

Listening Notes

Start with “Where I’m Going” to follow the DUKEBEATZ trail, then explore the complete solo release. Compare it with 2023’s The Night Shift to see the difference between June’s individual and Cardo-led projects.
