The Project

Payroll Giovanni’s Back 2 the Ba$ics signals its intentions directly through the title. Following the previous year’s Giovanni’s Way and Another Day Another Dollar, the project returns the spotlight to Payroll as a solo artist, framed by the ideas of consistency and maintaining the foundations that made his independent catalog recognizable.

For this archive, each release serves a different role: Another Day Another Dollar is a Payroll–Cardo partnership, Giovanni’s Way is another solo checkpoint, and Back 2 the Ba$ics moves that individual timeline into 2022. Documenting those distinctions is more useful than reducing every Payroll record to the same summary about business and success.

Listening Notes

Read its title as a deliberate statement of direction and place the project between 2021’s Giovanni’s Way and 2023’s Ghost Mode. Individual production credits remain separate from album-level artist credits.

Production & Contributors

Track-level production credits are attributed only when supported by music storefront metadata or album liner notes; no contributor is assumed to have worked on an entire project without appropriate credits.
